Time Magazine, and Hot 50 Results Are In!

Dec 7, 2010 2:36:30 PM

From: Riggs Eckelberry

Good Morning!

I'm here at the World Algae Congress USA 2010 in San Francisco. Shortly I'll be joining three eminent PhDs on a Keynote panel session on "Algae’s investment outlook in fuel, pharmaceuticals and chemicals". Wish me luck!

Hottest 50 in Bioenergy

Well - it's official. We came in #33 overall, ahead of ExxonMobil, Cargill, Chevron and others. We were among just five algae companies that made the cut (down from seven last year).

Editor Jim Lane said: “Congrats! OriginOil was one of the biggest gainers this year - only 25 or so companies have now appeared in all three Hot 50 polls.”

Award winners will be recognized at the Digest’s Advanced Biofuels Leadership Conference, in Washington DC, April 19-21, 2011.

Thank you!!

Time Magazine Recognizes Algae

In its new list "Top 20 Green Tech Ideas", Time Magazine says:

"...high levels of corn ethanol production simply aren't sustainable... But that doesn't mean biofuels can't play a major role in a greener U.S. energy policy — they just have to be the right kind...

"One of the best options on the horizon is biofuel made from algae."

Check out the article here.

So there you have it: mainstream recognition for algae, and just five algae companies in the hottest 50 in bioenergy.

Who would have expected this in 2007?

See you on Thursday at Morrison Foerster's Annual Cleantech Seminar. Click here for details.

Thanks again!
