OriginOil on E & E TV: solving the fracking challenge

Good morning!

Reporting on The Fracking Challenge

While on the (freezing!) East Coast last week, I was invited to appear on the respected E & E TV, which covers environmental and energy issues for Washington policy-makers.

I was able to discuss in depth how our continuous process can really make a difference in solving the growing need to clean up frack water quickly and efficiently.

Click here for my interview with Monica Trauzzi (or read the transcript).

New Video on the Algae Appliance

Last Friday, MoneyTV interviewed me from Washington, and featured our new video on the Algae Appliance to its audience. Here’s the clip.

Great interviews of the technical team, and some new animations to explain the process!

Deals, deals, deals

It’s ironic: it’s the most exciting stage of our company yet, with important deals in progress in both our oil and gas and algae divisions, and yet we can’t talk about them! I hope to be able to change that soon.

President Obama: “need some big technological breakthrough”

In his interview published today in the New Republic, President Obama said:

“…On climate change, it’s a daunting task. But we know what releases carbon into the atmosphere, and we have tools right now that would start scaling that back, although we’d still need some big technological breakthrough.”

Emphatically, yes! And more than just one technological breakthrough. Solving the climate change problem will require a cascade of new technologies.

And in algae, these technologies are coming together quickly for large-scale, productive operations that are now exceeding 120 acres, which is where the cost of fuel starts to become attractive. (see our End to End Algae Production Model).

Sahara Forest Project

Meanwhile, Biofuels Digest reports today “on the Sahara Forest project that will use solar power and sea water to produce food crops such as tomatoes, cucumber, melon, fodder crops, freshwater, clean energy, salt, and algae for biofuel.”

Think of what a greened Sahara would do for African economies and the health of our planet…

There is actually a pilot facility now operational! You can see pictures here.

It’s just one of many initiatives for algae production in the Middle East and the Indian sub-continent that we are tracking.

So large-scale production of algae is indeed becoming a reality, answering President Obama’s call for “some big technological breakthrough”.

Have a great week!
