Now, Modular In The Single Family Home

Nov 5, 2018 9:00:00 AM

America’s voting this week, but this headline grabbed my attention on Saturday:

Rural-America-Flint-580x486

In fact, as Jack Healy puts it in the Times story, it’s a major election-year issue across the country:

Rural communities call it their own, private Flint— a diffuse, creeping water crisis tied to industrial farms and slack regulations that for years has tainted thousands of residential wells across the Midwest and beyond.

Now, fears and frustration over water quality and contamination have become a potent election-year issue, burbling up in races from the fissured bedrock here in Wisconsin to chemical-tainted wells in New Hampshire to dwindling water reserves in Arizona.

Modular Water already does a lot of business in farm country. Our own superstar, Dan Early, works with rural schools that are often miles from the nearest sewage station.

But now, for the first time, the single family home needs a three-way solution:

  1. Filtration of the incoming water.
  2. Treatment of the effluent.
  3. Reusing the treated water for sprinklers.

That last part is especially important in water-scarce areas like California, Arizona and yes… Florida.

In those places, that capability could save homeowners big water bills, and help relieve the worsening water scarcity conditions.

Modular Water has a design for the home.

Of course, we have a standard design all ready to go.

Sit right outside the house like an air conditioning unit.

Pretty much run unattended.

For now, our focus is on the industrial deals in our pipeline, ranging from about $50,000 to more than $2 million.

But in 2019, we plan to expand into this HUGE market.

The Internet of Things

Ever heard of IoT? That’s the Internet of Things… when devices get connected for maximum efficiency.

Remember when Google bought Nest for $3.2 billion? That is an IoT device. Just like the Modular Water home design…

Turns out that last week I met with a company that has another Internet-connected device handling water in the home (can’t say who or what just yet), and they became intensely interested in working with us.

And they have already invested in commercial distribution. We will see!
