Game-Changing Technology and Biofuels 2.0
Good morning!
“Game-Changing”
New video: on his recent visit to our labs, MBD Energy’s Technical Director, Larry Sirmans, talks about his company’s experience with OriginOil:
“…OriginOil have a low-cost harvesting system that we can actually harvest algae, concentrate it, thicken it, regardless of the density that it’s growing.
“To me that was just, literally, game-changing.”
Larry also talks about his company’s plans to expand to 80 hectares of production, all fed by CO2 from Australia’s coal-burning power stations.
Also in the video: more details of our new large-scale order from MBD Energy from our own Scott Fraser, speaking at a recent National Algae Association event.
We are working at full speed to meet the high expectations of MBD Energy and our other partners. Much more to come!
Algae and Biofuels 2.0
Using food for fuels ain’t right, and it is why Biofuels 1.0 (corn-based ethanol and soy-based diesel), is now giving way to Biofuels 2.0.
“…unlike ethanol and biodiesel, these new biofuels are distillates or ‘drop-in’ fuels meaning they can be blended and are compatible with petroleum’s infrastructure of refineries, pipelines, and storage.”
That’s John Gardner, in his excellent article at Xconomy.
Biofuels 2.0 includes a number of new fuels such as switchgrass and tallow. Of all these, only algae is practically limitless.
With nuclear in deep trouble and petroleum coming from increasingly inefficient sources, we must have a limitless fuel source, and algae holds the best promise.
As you can see from our latest video, we are closely involved in fulfilling that promise.
Have a great week!
