Flash – We Made Hot 50 for the Fourth Year!

Good morning!

Once again, OriginOil placed within the top 50 for the most prestigious poll in bioenergy, earning the #37 rank!

“50 Hottest Companies in Bioenergy” for 2011-12

We’re honored to be in the top tier of a fast-growing group: in the fourth year of this poll, 304 companies received votes, and more than 130,000 individual company ratings were completed by voters.

OriginOil has figured in the Hot 50 every year of the poll.

And it’s not just a popularity contest:

The rankings, which recognize innovation and achievement in bioenergy development, are based 60 percent on votes from a 100-member College of international selectors, and 40 percent on votes from subscribers of Biofuels Digest and Renewable Chemicals Digest. (Biofuels Digest)

Fast Company…

Our favorite other algae public company, Solazyme, was Number One. Congratulations!

In fact, six of the top 50 utilize algae or cyanobacteria in their energy solutions (up from five last year).

Sixteen more are producing “drop-in” renewable biofuels. And as always, it’s fun being ahead of a few big players, such as Cargill, Chevron and Monsanto. (more here)

Fourth Algae World Asia, Beijing

It’s great to see the recognition for “real” drop-in renewable biofuels — the kind you can put in today’s existing cars, trucks, jets and ships.

“Real Green Fuel” is the wave of the future, and our Bill Charneski, Senior Director of Product Engineering, will be speaking on this in much greater detail at the 4th Algae World Asia, next week in Beijing.
