Extracting petroleum in Lost Hills
You know that the Mobile Lab is off to Texas in a few weeks, to demonstrate our Clean-Frac™ system to the oil and gas industry. You can hear more about it on our recent TV show.
To prepare, we scheduled a dry run in the Lost Hills drilling complex in nearby Bakersfield.
Like most wells in the world, this particular well produces large amounts of petroleum-contaminated water every single day.
This morning, we set up the system. In this photo on our Facebook page, Andrew Davies is setting up the small portable Clean-Frac system.
(Behind him is the mobile lab, which has its own much larger dirty water processing capability, plus the ability to analyze the results on the spot, and a cool touch-screen operating system.)
First time out of the chute
We fully expected to have days of setup time to make this system work for the first time in an oil field.
But no!
First time out of the chute, we got great separation from the produced water.
You can see in this photo the mat of hydrocarbon “harvest” that the system produces. That is an ugly, but very beautiful thing…
