First Look: industry audience views our Algae Appliance

Jan 31, 2012 11:56:18 PM

Los Angeles, January 31, 2012

Good morning!

Yesterday, we hosted the attendees of the National Algae Association's Los Angeles workshop after their event at USC.

Here's a First Look slideshow. (More photos and video to follow in the days ahead.)

(And yes, Executive Director Barry Cohen did dare me to taste some of our biocrude, which I did. And then he had to taste, too!)

First Time Demonstration of Algae Appliance

For the first time, a large group of algae industry executives toured our headquarters and lab. And it was the first time that our Algae Appliance was demonstrated to such a group.

This morning, Fluid Imaging Technologies CEO Kent Peterson commented: "What a knowledgeable, motivated team. Good for you, and good luck with future successes."

Thank you Kent! And thank you to all the attendees who made this such a great event!

I'm proud of our team that made it happen. Here's a photo of (most of) the team.

Clean Defense Summit Next Week

I'm honored to speak next week on Wednesday, February 8, at "Clean Def 2012" in downtown Washington, D.C.

"This major annual forum marks the first time all branches of the U.S. military will come together to specifically focus on advancements in clean energy, alternative fuels, and energy efficiency within the U.S. Department of Defense."

At the Summit and in media interviews while there, I will discuss how we are working with the Departments of Energy and Defense to create renewable algae crude for existing refineries (and the new DoD-sponsored generation of biorefineries).

Attendance via webcast is also available. Click this link to register online — hope to see you there!

Josh Tickell's Deep Dive

With his documentary film FUEL, Josh Tickell first showed algae to audiences all over the world. He interviewed me in detail about algae and OriginOil's directions and views.

Here's an excerpt:

"The story about green energy diversification, really since the Carter Administration, has always been about people really wanting to get things done and sometimes devoting lots of money... but the technology not being there.

"Fast forward to the 2nd decade of the 2000s, we're seeing technology become a reality. And that is going to really prove...to be an inflection point for algae. Because all of the technology pieces are in place."

You can listen to the entire interview by clicking here. (My segment starts at 34' 34")

Thank you Josh for the deep dive!

Enjoy the rest of your week.
