Algae and the DOE’s Uniform-Format Biomass Feedstock System

Nov 16, 2011 7:07:49 PM

OriginOil Senior Director of Product Engineering Bill Charneski discussed the strategies for the use of algae biomass: fuel versus food grade with benefits and limitations.  He then discussed the optimal process of converting algae into bio-crude and drop-in fuels and how algae was part of the DOE’s Uniform-Format Biomass Feedstock System.  Finally, he introduced the new OriginOil Algae Appliance, the entry level harvester for process development projects that accomplishes low energy, chemical free flocculation, removal of up to 95% of the water and compromises the algae cell walls.
