Eckelberry at OriginOil said algae biofuel gets around all these problems, and believes it will represent a large part of any green fuel policy -- if they can get the technology right. In a positive sign, OriginOil saw its over-the-counter-traded shares jump nearly 40 percent in record volumes in late April as the Los Angeles-based company unveiled a patent-pending process to extract oil from algae.
