Pattarkine is chief technology officer of Origin Oil Inc., a Los Angeles-based company that is developing a technology to transform algae, considered the most promising source of renewable oil, into a true competitor for petroleum. The company’s aim is to produce ‘new oil’ from algae through a growth-and-extraction process. The oil produced can be used for products such as diesel, gasoline, jet fuel, plastics and solvents.
