Oil From Algae In A Single Step
May 5th 2009, 05:39 pm
Californian biofuel technology company OriginOil has developed a single-step process to extract the oil from algae used for biofuels. Algae is cultivated in vast tanks of water, and extracting the oil usually requires chemicals and heavy machinery. OriginOil’s process involves treating the algae with electromagnetism, pH modification using CO2 and quantum fracturing, a process where catalysts and water are fractured using high-intensity ultrasound.
