Modular Water Team
Dan Early, P.E.
Dan has worked for 25 years as either a professional Consulting Engineer, a Principal Engineer in Charge, or as an Engineered Products Innovator, with the majority of his professional focus related to the water and environmental industry. Dan brings a very strong understanding of the complex and interconnected disciplines, economies and government regulation needed to develop and sustain modern civil infrastructure systems that reflect a balance of environmental stewardship, technical requirements, and social expectations.
Since 2010, Dan has specialized in the research, development, and deployment of next generation water infrastructure technologies with an emphasis on heavy plastic manufacturing and systems integration. His initiatives and innovations led to the granting of six patents issued in his name for various inventions related to a series of new infrastructure solutions. He spearheaded the development of a sophisticated selenium removal technology geared for the mining industry to help remedy on-going problematic water pollution issues related to pit mining operations. He has worked with notable organizations such as RTI International and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, as well as the United States Military and Department of State. He routinely works on projects involving the reclamation and reuse of waste-waters such that water resources can be further protected and utilized to the benefit of all people. His vision represents the basis of Modular Water Systems’ product line and his direction is key to its success.
Dan’s engineering and design skills, construction experience, and delivery know-how have enabled Modular’s development of Best-in-Class systems that provide reliable, durable, and cost-effective packaged waste water treatment systems and pump stations.
His many years of work in the water treatment industry reflect the delivery of systems having a total combined value of more than $100 million. Dan was the Principal Engineer for Virginia’s first Private-Public Partnership project involving a Public Service Authority, which alone had a $10.25 million delivered price tag. Dan was also the Professional in Charge for Virginia’s first Reuse & Reclamation project that utilized the State’s revamped wastewater reuse regulations (© 2008) for a project at Primland Resort near Stuart, Virginia. In addition to these notable achievements, he is currently working on the development of next generation biofilm technologies that show remarkable promise in the wastewater treatment sector.
His technical expertise and professional qualifications include:
- Municipal Engineering
- Water and Wastewater Utility Engineering
- Wastewater Treatment Engineering
- Potable Water Treatment Engineering
- Storm Water Management Design & Engineering
- Environmental Engineering
- Acid Mine Drainage and Mine Wastewater Treatment Applications
- Site Planning & Land Development Design
- Biological Process Design with emphasis on advanced nutrient removal and liquid-solids separation
- Structural Plastic (SRTP) Engineering and Design
- Green Energy Planning and Design (solar and biogas systems)
- SCADA System Planning and Implementation
Dan is a Licensed Professional Engineer in Montana, North Dakota, New Mexico, West Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland, Pennsylvania and the Commonwealth of Virginia. He is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil & Environmental Engineering.
