OriginOil Signs First Major Distribution Deal with Process Partner
Global distribution plan extends to product integration, manufacturing and mutual marketing
Los Angeles, CA – April 12, 2011 – OriginOil, Inc. (OOIL), the developer of breakthrough technology to transform algae, the most promising source of renewable oil, into a true competitor to petroleum, today announced that a process partner, World Water Works, Inc., has agreed in principle to distribute OriginOil’s dewatering and extraction systems to its global customer base. The agreement covers product integration, manufacturing and joint marketing.
“We’re excited that World Water Works have decided to manufacture and distribute our devices throughout their international customer base,” said Riggs Eckelberry, OriginOil CEO.
“World Water Works is an innovative company with a first-class manufacturing facility in Oklahoma City, and one of their technologies provides an important concentration stage in our harvesting systems. This is a major first step in our plan to integrate the algae production process for our customers,” Eckelberry noted.
“The OriginOil team are innovators, but they also know how to engineer solid devices that interface well with our systems,” said Mark Fosshage, President of World Water Works. “We are really pleased to be able to manufacture and distribute for them, and we also see potential opportunities for their technology in traditional waste water treatment settings.”
Scott Fraser, OriginOil’s VP/Operations noted that World Water Works’ world-class manufacturing facility is key to his company’s expansion plans as it responds to high customer demand worldwide.
“In our first field tests at MBD Energy’s research facility in Australia, their algae-specific DAF was highly successful in concentrating our client’s algae after our dewatering stage; and we will fully integrate it with our harvesting systems as part of our single-vendor commitment to our customer base,” Fraser said.
The Algae Harvesting Technology Optimized (AHTO™) system, from World Water Works, is a patent-pending version of the company’s wastewater industry high rate Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) process, specifically tailored to Algae Harvesting.
The AHTO™ technology separates suspended solids (flocculated algae) from the water by a process of dissolving air into water under pressure. Upon release of that pressure, microbubbles form. These microbubbles interact with the particles to cause them to ?oat to the surface of a vessel where they are skimmed off.
The result, according to the company, brings signi?cant performance and cost advantages over other algae harvesting systems on the market, yielding up to 20% algae concentrations at low operational and capital costs.
