During the conference, Eckelberry will discuss the many applications for algae, both on a local and global scale. He will also specifically address the company’s technology and commercial progress.

“Last July, Riggs Eckelberry spoke to a packed audience and he didn’t disappoint,” said Barry Cohen, the Association’s director. “We know that he will make good on the theme of this forum, which is, ‘What are we waiting for?’ We all agree that NOW is the time to take algae, the most promising replacement for petroleum, to market.”Among those joining Eckelberry will be representatives of the Royal Dutch Shell-funded venture Cellana, the University of Munich, and Virginia State University. The NAA’s quarterly forums are popular with so-called “algaepreneurs,” as they focus on commercial opportunities and real-world research and development.The conference will be held on April 30-May 1, 2009 at the Sheraton North Houston in Houston, TX. The National Algae Association is a nonprofit organization comprised of algae researchers, algae production companies and the investment community who share the goal of commercializing algae oil as an alternative feedstock for the biofuels markets. The NAA conference will provide attendees with a forum for building relationships with other algae production trade associations, to evaluate various algae technologies, and to discuss the potential viability within early-stage algae production companies.
